| May 17, 2014 5:07 PM

Betty May Bullock Jeffries, 88, “left her pain-wracked body” on May 12, 2014, “to join her many friends and relatives who went before her.”

Betty  was born Feb. 3, 1926, to Andy J. and Ivy May Crane Bullock in Hamilton, the oldest of seven siblings.

Betty May Bullock married Fred Chilton Nov. 25, 1944, and they later divorced.

Betty married Charlie F. Jeffries Dec. 1, 1948, and they were married until Charlie's death in 1983.

Betty played piano for many community dances in her young adulthood. She was an amazingly talented piano player who never had a lesson. Betty could hear a song once or twice and from then on could sit down and play it.

Bingo Betty had a great passion for bingo, camping and fishing, and watching and feeding birds. Betty belonged to a small group of friends who were referred to as “Bingo Babes” for many years.

Preceding Betty in death were her husband, Charlie; son, Gene; grandchildren, Kimmi Lance, Charlie Jeffries and Robert Jeffries; her parents; three sisters; and a brother.

Betty is survived by four children, Mary and Ric Lance of Columbia Falls, Charles B. Jeffries of Whitefish, Shirley and John Hegel of Columbia Falls, and Andy J. Jeffries of Kalispell. Two remaining sisters are Doris McKay of California, and Cherry Daves of Texas. Grandchildren include Rikki and John Perkins, Conni and Curt Weber, Mark Jeffries, Sue Ann and Keith Pugh, Brandy and Greg Jeffries, Michelle Jasperson, Heather Jeffries, Pamela and Jason Pilcher, and Rachelle Meek. Betty has 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Betty will be remembered as “that feisty ol’ gal” by her many friends and relatives she leaves behind.

Memorials may be given to any anti-smoking charity of the donor’s choice. A family memorial service is being held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20.
