Daniel Wayne “Scott” Barber, 70, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane on May 15, 2014.

He was born number six with a total of seven siblings. Scott was born July 3, 1943, in St. Ignatius.

Scott is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years, Sharon; sons, Scott and Kim, and Shawn and Tammi, of Ronan; granddaughters, Mariah and Austin, Madison, and Lindsay; grandson, Braden; great-grandson, Eastyn; three step-grandchildren, Andrea, Siera, and Nic and Kayla; sister, Bea Noble and Bob; brothers, Sam and Charlene, and Tom and Gail; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Joe Saddler of Pablo; and four sisters-in-law, Betty of Pinehurst, Idaho, Linda and Lawrence of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Linda Barber of Kasilof, Alaska and Judy Barber of Tucson, Ariz.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Stevie; parents, Emanuel and Ruby; brothers, Dick and Jim; and sisters, Pat and Sherry.

Scott was a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. He was very proud of his heritage, and his hunting and fishing rights. His pride was reflected in his artwork.

Scott loved to play golf, bowl and throw horseshoes with his wife Sharon and his many friends. He was very creative with his artwork, carving animals out of moose horns, figures out of cottonwood, and painted pictures on tree conks. He always gave everything away. He also loved to hunt, fish and go camping with family and friends.

Scott was always thinking about everyone else and making sure they were okay. He loved to tease and joke with the little kids. “Uncle” Scott was always there to give them a laugh or cry.

Scott graduated from Ronan High School in 1961.

He served in the Navy from 1961 to 1964.

He attended Philco Electronics School in Mountain View, Calif. from 1968 to 1969. He worked for Plum Creek in Pablo for 30 years, and CSKT Tribal Housing for eight years.

Scott and Sharon were married Aug. 28, 1965.

Scott will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. A memorial will be announced at a later date.

Scott will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.groganfuneralhome.com.
