Marion burglary suspect apprehended

An Idaho Hill Road woman in Marion contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after someone entered her home and stole a laptop, camera, and several items from her husband’s National Guard uniform as well as a large rucksack.

About five hours later, another person called and reported a man had been burglarizing homes in the Marion area and tried to sell the caller computer equipment and a camera that were possibly stolen.

The caller said the man was staying in a camper at Horseshoe Lake. Deputies were unable to locate the man, but he was later arrested near Woodland Park by Kalispell police officers on a preliminary charge of aggravated assault after being involved in a fight at a Woodland Park Drive bar.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said several items in the man’s vehicle linked him to the burglaries. Detectives are working on getting a search warrant for the vehicle and the man’s home and expect to recover all the stolen items.

A not-so-peaceful neighbor was reported on Peaceful Drive in Bigfork, where a resident accused her neighbor of putting potatoes in her flower bed, harassing her dogs and breaking into her home.

Several people, including a woman with pink hair, were reported “possibly tweaking” in the bathroom of a U.S. 2 East casino after they were seen going into a bathroom but never using it.

A man with “a bunch of spikes in his face like piercings” and his cohorts were sent on their way after being reported living in an old Volkswagen bus on a U.S. 2 West property in Marion.

A syringe full of liquid was found in a U.S. 2 East parking lot by a business that has had an ongoing problem with drug paraphernalia being found in the parking lot behind the building.

A man was arrested after hitting his wife, possibly causing her to momentarily lose consciousness and leaving her with a bleeding face, a bloody nose and blood on her hands.

A man was chased away from a U.S. 2 East apartment building after a tenant caught him messing with the door and window trying to break in.

Deputies were unable to locate a biker gang reported threatening people and doing burnouts on Lower Dam Road in Hungry Horse.

A Montclair Drive storage unit was burglarized.


Two panhandlers were reported to the Kalispell Police Department for lying on a U.S. 93 North curb drinking beer, waving a sign and jumping out in front of traffic and harassing motorists by yelling “Give us your money!” One was cited for having an open container and both were advised of city panhandling laws.

A Fifth Avenue West man chased a teenage boy out of his home with a baseball bat after finding the boy in an upstairs closet, having already set out a cellphone, camera and piggy bank.

A man was kicked out of the library and then arrested after he was reported using the computers, being belligerent and disruptive, saying something about killing someone.

A group of partygoers singing around a bonfire near 10th Street West agreed to take their festivities inside and keep it down after being approached twice by officers.

A man was educated on city panhandling laws after being reported approaching vehicles and knocking on windows on Treeline Road.

A man was given a ride home after being found, very drunk, on the ground in Woodland Park.

A man was arrested after hitting and pushing his girlfriend at their Fifth Avenue West home.


A barricaded bicyclist was arrested by a Whitefish Police Department officer after riding his bicycle into a pickup truck’s side mirror on Columbia Avenue then refusing to provide his information before going inside a house to evade police.

A pair of students were cited after being caught in an East Second Street school. One had alcohol and the other had marijuana.

A very drunk guest at a Wisconsin Avenue lodge was counseled by an officer after being caught following a brief foot chase.

A woman was given a ride home after yelling and screaming in a U.S. 93 South bar and refusing to leave.


A Columbia Falls Police Department officer dealt with a drugged-out Dumpster diver acting strange and fidgety behind a Nucleus Avenue business. An officer, who agreed the woman “appeared to be on something,” gave her a ride home.

A Franlou Park Lane man was warned about having a dog at large and the dog’s barking after it got out and bit a woman.

An officer pointed a few lost souls on Railroad Street in the right direction.

A wallet was stolen from a locker on 13th Street West.
