Rebecca 'Becky' Joan Aikin, 54
Rebecca “Becky” Joan Aikin, 54, passed away on Oct. 7, 2014, at home in Kalispell, with her daughter and dear friend by her side.
Becky was born in Butte on Nov. 30, 1959. The family lived in Butte, Port Arthur, Ontario, Hamilton and then Kalispell during her growing up years. After high school, Becky spent a few years in Columbia Falls and San Diego before settling back down in Kalispell where she graduated from Flathead Valley Community College with an Associate of Science degree in business.
She was a fiercely devoted mother and generous friend. She had a talent for caring for babies, seniors and the plethora of stray kids her daughter brought home. Over the years she learned to appreciate the small moments that give meaning to our lives. She passionately enjoyed the woods, sitting around a campfire and river hiking with her daughter. She loved to volunteer at Arts in the Park and enjoyed watching the rodeo with friends and loved ones at the annual county fair. She was well-versed on the political issues of the day and her “baloney meter” about politicians was always working; she never missed an opportunity to vote.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and LaVonne Aikin; life partner, John Scott Wolfe; and son, Jason Wilbur Aikin-Wolfe.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Aikin-Wolfe; stepdaughter of her heart, Trina Wolfe Rauthe; sister, Maria Aikin; cousins and their families, Kathy Reed, Marge Reed and Don Reed. She leaves behind dear friends, Helen, Audrey and Juanita (to name just a few); and her sweet kitty Friday is going to miss her immensely.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2015.
A special thank you to everyone who cared for her — her family is forever grateful for all your kindness and support. May she find peace and relief from pain and may her soul, and the souls of all the dearly departed, rest in peace.
