MISSOULA — After defeating the Missoula Sentinel Spartans at home in four sets in September, the Flathead Bravettes failed to reach 25 points in a single set and were swept by the Spartans for a Western AA road loss.

With outside hitter Lizze Sherwood out of the lineup with an injury, Marissa Postovit led Flathead with 11 kills, but Sentinel’s Kylie Frohlich stole the show in dominating fashion.

Frohlich finished with 12 kills, two blocks and three aces as the Spartans (3-4 in league, 6-8 overall) pulled within a game of the third place Bravettes (4-3, 7-6).

“Our serve-receive was pretty inconsistent,” Bravettes coach Leon Wilcox said.

“We didn’t pass well, and we missed too many serves at crticial moments. It seemed like we couldn’t get a momentum going.”

Abbie O’Brien and Jourdan Schultz each register two aces for Flathead, and senior Jessica Simmons tallied 13 of the Bravettes 42 digs.

“We need to get better at competing,” Wilcox said.

“They work hard, but we need to compete and there’s a difference between those two things.”

The Bravettes will travel back to Missoula for tournament volleyball as the Missoula Invite takes place Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m.
