Wolfpack boys, girls drop Capital in soccer
Colton Becker, a junior forward, scored a pair of goals in the first half to raise his season total to nine and Kade Deleray, a senior midfielder, scored a goal in both halves to help Glacier down Helena Capital 4-3 in Western AA soccer action Friday at Glacier High School.
Assisting on the scores were Parker Bedard, Coleman Zauner and Brandon Purdy.
Glacier held a 3-2 edge at the half.
It was the regular-season finale for both schools.
Glacier and Capital played to a scoreless tie earlier in the season.
“It was senior day and our upperclassmen led by example today,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said.
“It was good to see the boys come together for the final game and play our best game today. I think we’re geared up and ready to go for the playoff game.”
Glacier (7-4-3 overall, 5-4-3 league) will host Missoula Big Sky in a playoff contest next week. The winner advances to state, which begins Oct. 30 in Great Falls.

Carly McDonald, Cadie Williams and Alysha Smith scored goals, keeper Amy Braig stopped seven shots and Glacier wrapped up regular-season action by shutting out Helena Capital.
Smith and McDonald also had assists along with Maddi Paulson.
“I think we came together as a team,” Glacier coach Brenden Byrd said.
“They took yesterday’s loss (8-1 to Helena High) as a learning experience. I’m proud of them.”
Glacier outshot Capital on goal 25-8 and led in corner kicks 7-1.
“We kept punching away until we found the net,” Byrd said.
Glacier (6-4-4, 4-4-4), which finished third in the standings, will host a home playoff match next week with Missoula Big Sky. The winner advances to state, which begins Oct. 31 in Great Falls.
