Much ado aboot nothing
A concerned man phoned the Whitefish Police Department from Canada. The man was a retired police officer and he had questions regarding the “conduct towards Canadians” when they are in town. He had heard rumors of an officer making statements about Canadians from a co-worker of his and he had just aboot enough of it, eh.
The Columbia Falls Police Department received a call from a 12th Avenue West resident who reported money had been stolen from a yard sale. The caller, who admitted they had been drinking, called back to close the case. They had left the money atop the refrigerator.
A man reported his ex-girlfriend was hanging around his house and stalking him. She had been advised in the past to let it go, but was still cruising around his street.
A nervous homeowner on Second Avenue West reported knocking at the door. The caller couldn’t see out and wanted officers to investigate. It was a kid selling things door to door.
A newspaper delivery person called in about a suspicious man who took off running when the driver came around the corner. He was hiding in bushes when the driver asked him what he was doing. “Nothing,” came the reply from the bushes, not at all suspiciously.
The Columbia Falls Fire Department took a call about a structure fire on Ninth Street West at 7:08 p.m.
The Polson Police Department made an arrest for driving under the influence at a gas station on U.S. 93 at 1:11 a.m.
