Man overboard after overindulging

A man fell overboard from his canoe while fishing near Kalispell on Tuesday afternoon. He was able to get himself back in the boat before police arrived, but admitted to having a couple of beers while fishing. He took officers up on their offer of a ride home, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving up and down Twin Bridges Road near Whitefish around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The caller said that the vehicle was sneaking around with its lights off and they’ve had problems with poachers in that area lately.

A Kalispell woman on Poplar Drive found a plastic baggie with what appeared to be drugs in it on her front lawn when grabbing her newspaper Tuesday morning.

A counterfeit $100 bill was reported to police from a U.S. 2 East location in Kalispell.

Someone called in a red Pontiac Grand Am that was full of people who were reportedly drinking alcohol on South Main Street in Kalispell on Tuesday afternoon.

A bull was spotted near West Glacier. The woman said it’s been hanging around the area lately and that she’s “getting tired of seeing it in her yard.”

Someone reported three teenage boys that “tear up the smoke shack” at a Bigfork business. The caller said the boys show up after school, and then again around 10 p.m., and believes they are trying to get cigarette butts.

A Kalispell caller reported that a neighbor was driving recklessly on Stag Lane on Tuesday and almost hit the caller’s 5-year-old son after pulling out of their driveway very quickly and pulling a U-turn.

A man called from South Cedar Drive in Kalispell to report that things have gone missing from his yard over the past few days, including a gas can and a child’s bicycle.

Whitefish Police received a report of a bear limping near a Glenwood Road fence on Tuesday. The bear was mobile, but appeared to have a bad paw.

Two men were seen putting a gas can underneath a mailbox on O’Brien Avenue around 1 a.m. Wednesday. The caller said the men also appeared to be looking in vehicles and took off running and got into a vehicle.

A “concerned parent” called police to say that he thinks the construction workers in the area need to be “checked for drugs and alcohol.” He wouldn’t elaborate.

A woman reported losing a blue carry-on suitcase on Spokane Avenue after it fell out the back of her trailer on Tuesday afternoon.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a large bone next to a shoe near a fishing access area on Tuesday. No word yet on the outcome.

A woman called the Kalispell Police Department to report that she got a dog from someone, but it has fleas and she wanted to get rid of it on Tuesday.

A woman reported that a registered sex offender living on Fifth Street West has been approaching kids as they walk by and asking them how old they are and other details about them.

A man was reportedly passed out in an entryway on Grandview Drive on Tuesday night. He had also urinated on himself.

A drunk man was kicking things at people outside of a Hutton Ranch Road business Tuesday night.

A woman reported her tire had been slit and that she had a suspect for who may have done it.

An employee at a Hutton Ranch Road hotel called police for a loud party complaint Tuesday night.

A woman on First Avenue West reported that she has been letting a transient man stay in her garage for the last two weeks while he did odds and ends for her around the house, but now he won’t leave.

A man was seen lying in the median on South Meridian Road on Tuesday night. Police spoke to the man, who said he had dropped some things on the ground and was just picking them up.

A pickup truck engine caught on fire on South Woodland Drive just after midnight Wednesday.

A man reported being threatened by another man while he was boarding a bus on Two Mile Drive on Wednesday morning.
