Football Roundup: Vikes, Bulldogs finish perfect in league play
BIGFORK — Bigfork whipped Thompson Falls (2-7 overall, 2-2 league) 48-0 Friday night to finish District 7B football play with a 4-0 mark.
It was the sixth straight 7B championship for the fifth-ranked Vikings (7-1).
Josh Sandry ran for a touchdown and passed for another and Isaac Martel had a touchdown reception and returned a punt 55 yards for a score.
Bigfork led 35-0 after the opening quarter.
Bigfork outgained the Bluehawks 318 yards to 151.
Sandry was 4 of 5 passing for 52 yards.
Quirk had nine carries for 110 yards.

Whitefish 45, Libby 0
WHITEFISH — Quarterback Luke May was 5 of 5 passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores as Whitefish pounded Libby to finish Northwestern A play undefeated (4-0).
It’s the first conference championship for the Bulldogs in 12 years.
“He’s playing really well,” Whitefish coach Chad Ross said of May.
“He’s playing playoff caliber football.”
May also rushed for 66 yards on eight carries.
“It was senior night,” Ross said.
“It was their last Friday night game. They did really well.”
Jack Streibich and Jed Nagler had the touchdown receptions, covering 25 and 22 yards, respectively.
It was the lone catch for Streibich.
Nagler had three receptions for 73 yards.
Whitefish had 310 yards in total offense to 125 for Libby.
Up next for the Bulldogs (7-2 overall) are the Class A playoffs. The team has a first-round bye virtue of the conference title.

POLSON — Polson opened the game with a huge play but, Columbia Falls (7-1, 3-1 league) answered with 43 unanswered points to end the Pirates’ (3-6, 1-3) season and secure the second seed from the Northwestern A.
Wyatt DuCharme found Matthew Rensvold for an 81-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring in the first quarter for the Pirates, giving the home team some hope to upset the Wildcats on senior night.
“We started off with a big play,” Polson coach Scott Wilson said.
“But, they kept pounding away.”
Columbia Falls scored the next six touchdowns and forced Polson into a safety on a bad snap to run away with the final score.
Ike Schweikert scored two touchdowns on the ground for Columbia Falls and Ty Morgan and Sean Hoerner each had one through the air.
Connor Bowman and Steven Decamp also scored touchdowns in the contest.
Wildcats quarterback Dakota Bridwell finished the game 20 of 32 passing for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Columbia Falls had 32 rushes as a team for 164 yards.
The Wildcats defense held Polson to 19 yards rushing on 26 carriers and DuCharme finished 3 for 11 passing for 92 yards.
Columbia Falls hosts Hamilton (6-3), the Southwest’s third seed, in the first round of the playoffs next week.
The Wildcats beat the Broncs on the road earlier this season 14-9.
