Volleyball: Loggers spill Frenchtown
LIBBY — Facing adversity in the opening set of their Northwestern A home volleyball match against the Frenchtown Broncs (5-5 overall, 3-4 league), the Libby Loggers (9-3, 4-3) rallied from behind before dominating the next two sets to sweep Frenchtown on Saturday.
One point away from winning the opening set, Frenchtown led 24-22, but Libby clawed it’s way back, scoring the next four points to take the set 26-24.
“I was proud of our girls for keepng their composure, coming back and winning that one,” Loggers head coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said.
“I thought we stayed pretty focused and played pretty solid the rest of the match. They played with confidence.”
With momentum on its side, Libby dominated the rest of the match, taking the next to sets 25-17 and 25-13.
Libby’s Hannah England had a match-high 25 assists and teammate Halley Moe led all hitters with 12 kills.
Defensively, Mahalah Wedel had 22 digs and Ciera Stewart had a match-high five blocks.
The Logger totaled nine aces with Hailey Craig acing three of her serves.
Libby is back in action Tuesday versus visiting Eureka.

Polson 3, Dillon 2
POLSON — The Polson Lady Pirates went back and forth with Dillon in nonconference action, ultimately taking down the Beavers 25-22 20-25 25-20 18-25 15-10.
“It was very evenly matched,” Polson coach Janine Toth said. “They have a very big hitter and we were able to stop her when we need to.”
Haley Fyant and Jaiden Toth led the way for Polson. Fyant finished with 14 kills, four aces and two blocks. Toth racked up 38 assits, 18 digs and four aces.
“Jaiden is an all around team leader. It’s fun to watch her lead her young team,” Toth said. “Haley has a lot of power and she’s really good at being able to place the ball on her kills.”
