Earl Otto Mitchell, 95

Earl Otto Mitchell, 95, passed away on Sept. 2, 2014.

He was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Chester, and later moved with his family to Great Falls where he graduated from Great Falls High School in 1937. After graduation he went to work for Western Airlines, which merged with Delta Airlines. He worked in the airline business for 43 years.

Earl met and married Kathryn Stewart in Great Falls on May 1, 1943. 

He was transferred to Cheyenne, Wyo., where their daughter Judy was born. In 1962, he was transferred to Granada Hills, Calif., and lived there until he retired to the Flathead Valley where he has been residing since. Earl was active in the Elks Club and became a life member. He and his wife enjoyed traveling abroad and in the U.S.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Kay; a brother; a sister; his son, Kim Mitchell; and a grandson, Jeff Thorsen. 

He is survived by his daughter, Judy Thorsen and her husband, John; his granddaughters, Janel Sharpe of Indianapolis, Ind., Kelly Hinz of Phoenix, Ariz., and Laurie Mitchell of San Clemente, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Marley, Nathan and Zachary. 

Cremation has taken place.
