Football roundup: Columbia Falls blasts Browning; Whitefish falls in OT to Belgrade

COLUMBIA FALLS — Quarterback Dakota Bridwell passed for 318 yards and six touchdown to power Columbia Falls (3-0) to an easy 69-6 Class A nonconference football victory over Browning on Friday.

Bridwell was 13 of 23 passing and was not intercepted.

Ty Morgan caught two touchdown passes, 63 and 91 yards, and finished with three receptions for 159 yards.

Wyatt Green rushed for 61 yards on six attempts and one score. He also had a 5-yard touchdown reception from Bridwell.

Corvallis 34, Polson 14

POLSON — Quarterback Jayce Gilder passed for two first-half touchdowns and ran for two more to guide Corvallis to a Class A nonconference victory over Polson (1-2).

Corvallis enjoyed a 27-0 halftime lead and added a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Joe Gallatin accounted for Polson’s TD with runs of 3 and 4 yards.

Jacob Harrod was perfect on both after touchdown kicks.

Polson quarterback Wyatt Ducharme was 4 of 9 for 42 yards. The Pirates had 187 yards on the ground on 41 attempts.

Gallatin had 78 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Bigfork 52, Florence 8

FLORENCE — Bigfork bounced back from last week’s 28-21 home loss to to Choteau by whipping Florence in Class B nonconference action.

Vinny Quirk scored three touchdowns in the opening quarter and Josh Sandry ran for two more and passed for two in the Bigfork (2-1) blowout.

Bigfork had 397 yards in total offense to 192 for Florence.

Sandry completed 6 of 10 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns. He did not throw an interception.

Quirk rushed 11 times for 99 yards and Sandry had five carries for 90 yards.

EUREKA — Conrad did all of the scoring early while Eureka tallied four touchdowns in the final quarter to make it respectable.

Austyn Sherwood passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more for Eureka in the Class B nonconference matchup. He was 8 of 15 passing for 166 yards and added 30 yards rushing.

Defensively for Eureka, linebacker James Dunn had 15 tackles and end Tyler Fonger 10.

Chase Bohne had a touchdown reception of 56 yards and an interception return of 30 yards for Eureka (0-3).

Brandon Conard hauled in a 32-yard touchdown strike from Sherwood.

Whitefish 28 OT

WHITEFISH — Belgrade returned a kickoff for a touchdown with 6:46 remaining and added a two-point conversion to tie it and force overtime and then won it in the extra session with a point after touchdown kick.

Whitefish (2-1) scored first in overtime on a 5-yard pass from Luke May to Jack Streibich. The snap, however, on the extra point failed.

Belgrade (2-1) then scored on a 5-yard run and added the game-winning kick.

Whitefish had two touchdowns called back on penalties.

This was a rematch of last year’s Class A quarterfinal playoff contest. Belgrade won that game 27-20 on a Hail Mary Pass.
