Football roundup: Stevi beats Libby with late TD

LIBBY — Zach Crace rushed for three touchdowns and 204 yards on 48 attempts, but it still wasn’t enough as Stevensville (1-2) scored the go-ahead touchdown with a minute to play to beat Libby’s Loggers 25-22 in Class A nonconference football action Friday night.

Crace’s third touchdown, a 7-yard jaunt with 9:42 remaining, and his two-point conversion run put Libby (1-3) on top 22-19.

Stevensville quarterback Bryce Torrey then hooked up with John Diepstraten for a 40-yard touchdown strike with 1:02 to play to give the Yellowjackets the victory.

Torrey had three TD passes on the night, two going to Diepstraten.

Torrey was 7 of 24 passing for 225 yards. He was intercepted twice.

Diepstraten had four receptions for 113 yards.

Libby outgained Stevensville 297 yards to 253. The Loggers totaled 76 plays to Stevensville’s 52.

Libby turned it over four times to three for Stevensville.

CORVALLIS — Corvallis (3-0) jumped out to an early and them traded scores with Whitefish (2-2) for the remainder of play to claim the Class A nonconference victory.

Whitefish’s Luke May was 16 of 34 passing for 205 yards and two touchdowns. He was intercepted twice.

Chris Park rushed for 33 yards on six carries and scored a touchdown.

Jed Nagler totaled four receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. He also had a touchdown pass.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Dakota Bridwell passed for 282 yards and four touchdowns, Ty Morgan returned a punt 61 yards for a score and Colton Gove took an interception back 25 yards for a touchdown as second-ranked Columbia Falls (4-0) whipped Anaconda (2-1) in a Class A nonconference matchup.

Bridwell was 16 of 29 passing on the night and was intercepted once.

Morgan had six receptions for 137 yards.

Trevor Houston had three catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

Stephen Lindsey and Justice McManus had the other touchdown receptions for the Wildcats.

Columbia Falls put the game away with a 28-point third quarter.

Anaconda rushed for 84 yards and passed for 140. Columbia Falls had 134 yards on the ground and 282 through the air.

Polson (2-2) held a 29-6 lead at the half.

Colton Cote ran for two second-half scores for the Pirates.

FLORENCE — Garrett White bolted 29 yards for a touchdown and Christian Langston’s interception return of 65 yards for a touchdown was just enough to give Eureka its first victory of the season in a Class B nonconference contest.

Both scores came during the second quarter.

White totaled 77 yards rushing.

Defensively, Bryant Little and Matthew Anderson had seven tackles each to lead the Eureka defense.

Both teams are now 1-3.
