MISSOULA — Glacier’s Ali Williams was a dominate force in the circle, striking out 31 batters and allowing just four hits in a 9-0 win over Missoula Sentinel and a 3-1 triumph over Missoula Big Sky (6-1 overall) on Tuesday in Western AA softball action.

Williams fanned 14 hitters in the Sentinel contest and 17 versus Big Sky.

Both teams had just two hits.

“Her pitching performance in the circle was pretty impressive,” Glacier coach Andy Fors said.

“She didn’t need her teammates to do a lot of defensive work behind her.”

Fors said Williams “did a good job of moving the ball around, keeping hitters off-balance.”

Glacier (4-0 overall, 2-0 league) took a 1-0 lead on Big Sky in the fourth inning when Kayla Russell doubled and scored on a single by Erin McHugh. In the sixth inning, McHugh reached on an infield error and Williams belted a two-run homer to deep left to complete the scoring.

Christine Connoly and Katie Wiley, 3 for 3, homered for Glacier against Sentinel.

Glacier hosts Helena Capital, noon, and Helena High, 2 p.m., on Saturday at Kidsports Complex.
