Tennis: Wildkats top Sentinel JV
MISSOULA — The Columbia Falls Wildkats tennis team traveled to Missoula on Friday for a dual with the Missoula Sentinel Spartans’ junior varsity squad and came away with a commanding win, taking the dual five matches to two.
The Wildkats swept singles play, winning four consecutive one-on-one matches.
Emily Getts won in two sets against Sentinel’s Peyton Finch in the top singles spot. Getts won the first set 6-4 before being pushed by Finch in a dramatic 7-5 victory in Set 2.
Molly Schmidt won her No. 2 singles match handidly. The sophomore topped Sentinel’s Emma Softich, 6-0, 6-1.
The Spartans picked up two wins in the first two doubles spots. Bronywn McCormick and Kylie Frohlich took down Columbia Falls’ Sammi Mueller and Samantha Gilk, 6-2, 6-1 in No 1 doubles action.
The sophomore combination of Meghan McCallum and Mariah Lingel earned the lone double victory fro the Wildkats. They took down Taylor Tenant and Kenna Stensrud, 6-2, 6-2.
The Wildkats are back in action on Monday at 3 p.m. for a home match against Ronan.
