Track: Bigfork, Eureka sweep titles

BIGFORK — The Bigfork boys and girls each won their host track invitational, surviving windy conditions that swept western Montana on Saturday. It’s the first time in three years the school has been able to complete the meet, after snow swept through and forced organizers to cancel it the last two seasons.

Hailey Norred won the 400-meter run and the high jump and Reese Nissen took both the 200 and the triple jump to lead the Valkyries to 206 team points.

Alex Bohlman won the 100 and the javelin and Stephanie Robbins the 800 and 3,200 to help Seeley-Swan in a distant second-place finish with 113 points.

Carson Cantrell won three events to lead the Vikings, taking both hurdles races, the 110 in 16.71 and the 300 in 43.15. He won the pole vault by clearing 11-6.

The Bigfork boys posted 190 team points to top Charlo by 68. Bigfork senior Josh Sandry won the 100 and javelin and Tyler Iverson took the shot put and discus.

Eureka Invitational

EUREKA — The Eureka boys and girls excelled at their home meet, beating Lincoln County rivals Troy and Libby.

The Lady Lions won nine events, led by Jenna Komac, winner of the 400 and javelin.

Libby’s Krysten Mossburg won the 300 hurdles and the long jump and Asia Jones won the pole vault and shot put for the Loggers.

Christian Langston won the 100 and 110 hurdles and Byant Little the 1,600 and 3,200 for the Eureka boys to lead a dominant performance. The Lions won nine of the 17 events.

Troy’s Sean Opland won four events, taking the 200, high, long and triple jumps and finishing second in the 100.
