Just three days after a fire torched its roof, the 406 Bar and Grille in downtown Kalispell plans to reopen on Friday.

Lorraine Scotti-Belli, co-owner of the restaurant, said the bar area and part of the dining room that wasn’t affected by Tuesday’s fire will reopen.

She said the goal was a quick turnaround to avoid lost business.

The 406 Bar and Grille is less than two months old, having opened earlier this year in the former location of the North Bay Grille.

The roof of the restaurant caught fire Tuesday evening. Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames when they arrived. The roof over the front dining area was damaged; that’s the area that will remain closed.

Nobody was injured in the fire, but damage was estimated at $50,000.

Kalispell Fire Chief Dave Dedman said on Thursday that the fire was accidental and caused by “improper handling of exposed electric wiring.”
