Dillon netters top C-Falls, Polson

POLSON — Polson and Dillon split wins in singles play, but Dillon prevailed in two of three doubles outings to emerge with a 4-3 Class A nonconference dual tennis victory on Friday.

Polson was missing players because of a music festival.

“The Dillon boys and girls are very solid,” Polson coach Bob Hislop said.

The closest match was at No. 1 singles with Mark Waldrup downing Columbia Falls’ Trevor Wick 6-2, 6-4.

POLON — Columbia Falls posted wins at Nos. 1-2-3 singles in a nonconference dual loss to Dillon.

Emily Getts rolled 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, while Hailey Sapa and Molly Schmit had to rally big time for victories — 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 and 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, respectively.

“They gutted out those two matches,” Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said of Sapa and Schmit.

“It was fun to watch them rally back from losing that opener.”
