Softball: Pirates top Loggers
LIBBY — Hannah Potter hit a grand slam home run to center field in the third inning to help Polson knock off Libby 6-2 in Northwestern A softball play on Thursday evening.
Polson scored two runs in the third inning before Potter, who went 2 for 4, stepped up to the plate.
Libby scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Devon Gallagher two-out single.
Hannah England gave up nine hits, but struck out 11 Polson batters in going the distance in the circle.
Polson’s Camas Renault held Libby to three hits, all singles.
“We hit the ball right to them,” Libby coach Dean Thompson said.
“They made some really great plays. Their defense played tough.”
Jaiden Toth and Taylor Brackey also had two hits apiece for Polson.
Libby (5-2 overall, 1-2 league) plays at the Frenchtown Invitational today and Saturday. Polson is at that tournament on Saturday.
