Random kind act reins in runaway horse
An ambitious U.S. 93 resident told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that a pony was loose and she was going to catch it. As it turns out, she did corral the animal and put water out until an owner was found.
A retailer reportedly sent a Parkside Drive resident a credit card that had already been used in Minnesota. The resident felt that some sort of fraud was happening.
A Kelley Road resident may have felt targeted after putting up a new mailbox, because it was smashed by vandals. The caller said that it was the only mailbox hit in the area.
Somebody reported that some a check had been stolen, and the thief tried to cash it at a Pizza Hut.
Deputies quickly found a 3-year-old girl who was reported missing. The Montana Highway Patrol assisted in the short search.
A passerby told the Whitefish Police Department that some geese and goslings were walking along the west side of U.S. 93 and “looking toward the highway like they want to cross it.”
The West Valley Fire Department responded to a grass fire that reached an electric company pole on Whitefish Stage Road. No lines were down and the fire was suppressed, leaving a charred pole but no serious damage.
Someone thought they saw suspicious “deals” being made in front of a Third Avenue East business. The onlooker took a video and told the Kalispell Police Department. Upon investigation, it was just somebody waiting for his or her mother to get off from work.
A driver left a vehicle’s keys in the ignition, possibly to tempt fate. It worked. The vehicle was stolen.
Police cited a drunken and disorderly man whose actions made one Grandview Drive resident too uncomfortable to leave home.
An unknown man walked into an Appleway Drive home. This alarmed the resident, who was able to push the reportedly drunken man out. Police found and arrested the intruder.
The owner of a vehicle that was apparently towed five years ago tried to get it back. He claimed the police illegally towed it in 2010.
