Man hits pole, arrested on DUI warrant

A car ran into a utility pole on Third Avenue East North. The driver told the Kalispell Police Department that he was not hurt, but he was arrested on a prior DUI warrant.

A woman told police about a bizarre intervention situation. She said her family would buy her a house if she moved to Kalispell. When she arrived, the family was “abusive” and withheld financial help unless she went to “detox,” according to the report. The woman told police she didn’t think she needed detox.

One person called the police after witnessing an adult tell a baby to “shut up.”

Along U.S. 93 North, a woman lost her purse. Among the items inside was a handgun. It was later found and returned to the owner.

Police assisted on a medical call on South Meadows Drive. A child fell down some stairs and a witness heard a “crack” noise.

There was a report of a “scruffy” man trying to “fake run” in front of vehicles on Seventh Avenue East North. Officers were unable to find him.

An apparently drunken man was being verbally abusive to a woman at a South Meadows Drive home, according to a report. He was locked in a bathroom but “kicked his way” through the door to escape. He was eventually arrested.

An open container ticket was given to a woman who was openly drinking in an East Idaho Street parking lot.

A man was mowing a lawn near West Reserve Drive and told police a woman threw a hot beverage in his face, burning him. The woman told police that the man had hit her. Officers were dispatched to sort out the situation.

A pickup was reported stolen from a Bluestone Drive location. The keys were left in the truck.

A tool set was reportedly shoplifted from a U.S. 93 North business. The suspects were on the move, but employees found that one of them dropped a driver’s license. With officers’ help, the business got the merchandise back.

Someone drove away from a First Avenue West North business without paying for $100 in fuel, according to a report.


A woman was walking down Whitefish Stage and mooning people. Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to speak with her.

Someone witnessed two cats “fall out” of a moving vehicle on a bridge near Columbia Falls. The witness thought the animals might have been thrown out but wasn’t sure. Animal Control responded and collected two dead kittens.

Somebody let two people use his car to get some gas. Then he received a call from the borrowers, who said that they were on U.S. 2 and were going to drive somebody to Oregon. The car owner wanted deputies to help him get the car back.

One driver left the keys to the car in the cup holder. That vehicle was stolen from West Reserve Drive.

The owner of a U.S. 2 family business said he fired a family member, who responded by driving away with a company vehicle.

The theft of “leather gloves and a beer” was reported from a U.S. 2 business.

A Stillwater Loop home was broken into, according to the property owner. The doors were open, there was trash strewn inside and “smells of marijuana” lingered.

Employees at a U.S. 2 business were not sure what to do with an intoxicated man who stumbled into the women’s bathroom and fell down.

There was a report of a driver guzzling a 40-ounce beer on Anderson Lane.

A driver called about a “topless woman” walking along U.S. 2. A deputy later caught up with two fully-clothed girls and counseled them on roadside safety.


The Whitefish Police Department received a call from a man who lost his “proof of identity” and was unable to board a plane.

Police were asked to respond to Central Avenue to check on a man who was in a prone position. One witness wasn’t sure if the man was breathing.

A man sitting on the side of Wisconsin Avenue was shirtless and had “possibly slippers” on his feet. The caller thought he might get hit by a car.

Black bear sightings continued, this time near Meadowlark Lane.

Somebody sold a vehicle but didn’t transfer the title or remove the license plates. This concerned the seller, who called the Columbia Falls Police Department to talk about what to do.

Officers stopped to chat with a “large group” who stepped off a “party bus” on Nucleus Avenue. No criminal activity was reported.
