Neighbor advises of bear necessities

In the ongoing bear visitation issue in Whitefish, a Stumptown Loop resident told the Whtiefish Police Department that his neighbor keeps leaving trash out.

An apparent hit and run was reported on Baker Avenue.

There was a report of an intoxicated man who kept walking through an East Second Street construction site trying to pick fights with workers.

There was a report of a suspicious doorknob “jiggle” at a West Eighth Street home. The caller didn’t see anybody.


A Helena Flats Road man said that his wife bit him and took off on foot. Both subjects had been drinking, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities received a call about a vehicle colliding with a deer near Lakeside. The report said there were no injuries, although it’s likely that the deer didn’t make it.

A man was “raging on drugs” on U.S. 2 near Columbia Falls, according to one caller. This was done by sitting in a car by himself.

The manager of a U.S. 2 eatery told authorities that a man walked in and took a cup without paying for it. When the manager intervened, the man reportedly used some vulgar language.

A deputy advised two people living underneath a Montana 35 bridge to move along.

One caller wanted to know if it was legal to carry a firearm at the water slides in Columbia Falls. The person had seen somebody doing so the other day.

A Bigfork Stage resident slept in a tent and awoke to find an arrow had gone through it. Then he found that a neighbor had set up an archery target and apparently missed.

There was a report of a possible intruder at a Farm To Market Road school. A witness saw a man trying to open the doors before taking off in a car.

A personal watercraft and a swimming suit were both found without people occupying either.

Some Happy Hollow Road neighbors were in a dispute about lawn care and visible trash bags. A deputy responded to offer advice.

A Swamp View Lane resident said that her neighbor was sending a man to come around and “scare her.”

The subjects from an alleged Montana 35 bar fight were nowhere to be found when law enforcement arrived.

One man blocked in some suspected trespassers on Riverside Drive with a Toyota and a 9mm pistol. Deputies arrived to sort out the situation.


A First Avenue West North man told the Kalispell Police Department that he wasn’t happy about his wife trying to sell his gun.

A Lupine Drive woman reported a vehicle to the police because she felt it was “sketchy.” It was missing hubcaps and the driver appeared to be smoking, according to the report.

A woman was seen urinating in a Second Avenue East North yard and smoking a cigarette.

Someone walked into the police station to request extra patrol around his house to protect his car from break-ins.

Ten days after a Treeline Road resident bought a vehicle, it was stolen. There was also a loaded pistol under the seat. The vehicle was later spotted in a parking lot and returned to the owner.

There was a report of a bull moose chasing children near Village Loop.

A woman was reportedly pounding on the front door of a Fourth Avenue East North home. She reportedly yelled that she hadn’t “had any love in over 10 years.”


One caller wanted the Columbia Falls Police Department to check on his aunt, who hadn’t called in a while. It turned out that she was fine but had lost her phone.

There was a report of two men who purchased a hand saw from a Ninth Street West building. After that, they were seen riding around on children’s bicycles.
