LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — The Glacier All-Stars will have to wait another day to get their first swing at the Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15-Year-Old World Series after heavy rains and thunderstorms prevented play on Friday.

Glacier’s 15s were scheduled to play the Southeast champions from Sarasota, Florida, when rain and thunderstorms blew into the area shortly before game time. Play was originally delayed three hours but more forcasted thunderstorms caused officials to postpone games until the morning.

Because of the delay, Glacier will play twice today. The 15s open against Sarasota at 8 a.m. MT and will get a short break for lunch before an afternoon matchup against Pacific Southwest champion Westchester, California, from Los Angeles at 2:30 p.m.

Both games will be broadcast in the Flathead Valley on 95.9 FM.

Glacier’s opponents have already seen game time in the tournament, opening play on Thursday.

Sarasota beat Eastern Tennessee champion Giles County 8-6 in the late game on the first day of the tournament. Westchester fell to the Southwest champion South Brazoria County, Texas 8-3. Glacier will close pool play in the National Division against Giles County on Sunday and South Brazoria County on Monday.

The top three teams from pool play will advance to play the top three teams from the American Division in a six-team single-elimination playoff.

Headed by the host team from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the American Division features the Ohio Valley champ from Eau Claire, Wisconsin; the Midwest Plains champ from Fargo, North Dakota; the New England champ from Pittsfield, Massachusetts; and the Middle Atlantic champ from West End (Williamsport), Pennsylvania.
