Golf: Mann, Schulz, Fyall lead way at Missoula Invitational
MISSOULA — Glacier and Whitefish have the individual leaders after first-day action at the Missoula Invitational golf tournament on Monday.
Glacier’s Tom Mann opened with a 70 on the Canyon River Golf Course for a two-shot lead on Sean Ramsbacher of Missoula Sentinel and Isak Nord of Missoula Hellgate.
Whitefish’s Coral Schulz fired a first-round 74 with teammate Katie Fyall carding an 81 for the two best scores for the girls.
Sentinel tops the boys standings with a 301 mark, 16 shots better than Helena High and Flathead.
Evan Miles and Rielly Manger both turned in 77s to tie for ninth and keep Flathead in contention.
Glacier is fifth with a 333 score.
The Whitefish girls are rolling, holding a 32-shot advantage with their 347 total.
Hailley Hileman helped Whitefish take a huge led by carding an 88, which was good for sixth place.
Glacier, second with a 379 score, had two girls in the top 10. McKenna Tinseth and Kyersten Siebenaler both shot 90 to tie for seventh.
Today’s final round will be played at Larchmont Golf Course.
This is the second outing of the season for most schools.
