Like a boat out of water?

| August 24, 2015 9:00 PM

A Voyager Drive resident called the Whitefish Police Department to report a strange boat on his street. He had never seen it before and it was not attached to a vehicle. He said it “felt out of place,” like a boat out of water or something.

A Fraser Avenue resident repeatedly sighted a black bear in his yard. The adult bear had been running around the neighborhood for the last several nights.

A black bear cub was seen on Glenwood Road rooting through garbage cans. It, or one of its relatives, was seen on Parkway Drive as well.

A Seventh Avenue East North resident called the Columbia Falls Fire Department to report a man trying to get into her house. The man, in a wet swimsuit and shirtless, was not a stranger to the caller, but she still did not want him in her house.

A resident called in a Crimestoppers tip from something seen in the paper, but the suspect got away before police showed up.

A Third Avenue East residence was supposedly the site of trespassing, as a neighbor heard people drinking in the backyard. It had been repossessed months ago and the neighbor thought it might have been the person who was evicted. The resident had damaged property before when he had been drinking.

A Lakeside resident called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office about a chain saw running in timber behind their house. The caller was concerned the chain saw would spark a fire as the area was full of brush. The logger shut down the chain saw, stating he was aware of fire restrictions.

A man driving on U.S. 93 while hauling a trailer holding a race car was the subject of multiple calls. He was swerving, flipping people off and honking at them, forgetting to leave the race mentality on the track, apparently.

A Lore Lake Road couple reported their daughter had been bitten by a chipmunk in Missoula County. They wanted to know how to get Alvin tested for rabies. They were instructed to bring it in the next day.

A child was wandering around on Meridian Road and was missing her parents. Officers observed superficial marks on her arms. When asked about them, the girl said her mom “draws on her with sharp objects, like knives.” The parents were located and the little girl was returned the knife-wielding mother.

Bumper cars led to an injury at the fair. The rider was taken to the first aid tent for an ice pack for a minor strain.

A Flathead Drive couple was fighting and the man threatened to “pound her head in” if she slept that night but also refused to let her leave the house. The argument had started over the couple’s daughter allowing her boyfriend to work on their cars.
