Law roundup: Next time call the fashion police

| August 27, 2015 9:11 PM

A father on Eighth Avenue West perhaps should have called the fashion police rather than the Kalispell Police Department to report that his ex-wife’s niece was cutting his daughter’s hair “against his wishes” and he believed she was doing it to cause problems. Although his niece allegedly was committing similar fashion crimes on an ongoing basis, dispatchers advised him that “law enforcement was not going to get involved in bad haircuts.”

Apparently someone on Country Way South who wasn’t invited to a neighborhood party on Glacier Circle called police around 7 p.m. to complain about “extremely loud music.” A neighbor said the whole neighborhood was sent an email about the evening event and that nothing was “obnoxiously loud.” The party pooper called back to complain the “very loud” music was still going on. Revelers were advised to  be quiet by 10 p.m.

An anxious man said he received a threatening phone call from an older woman asking if his life was worth $2,000.

A woman who had been removed from an East Idaho Street bank was “causing a scene” and allegedly said that “she is the police and everyone is under arrest.”

As she came out of the shower of her U.S. 2 East residence, a woman encountered a strange woman “wearing nasty clothes” standing in her living room holding a child. Wielding a frying pan, the homeowner chased out the invader. The homeowner told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office she would kill the woman if she came back into her house. The woman was said to have gone around the trailer court asking people for drugs.

Someone on Edgewood Place in Whitefish wanted a deputy to pick up a huge bag of stuffed animals she wanted to donate but had no way of getting to Kalispell.

A truck was “very badly keyed” according to the owner on Redfield Lane in Lakeside who had a suspect in mind.

A handgun was stolen out of a woman’s unlocked vehicle on Stag Lane in Kalispell.

An employee of Evergreen Water and Sewer District called officers on Maple Drive to advise them that children were reportedly playing on a 500-pound septic tank lid and using it as a sandbox. The concerned employee said a child had died in the septic tank, which was the reason for putting a heavier lid on it.

A woman was “freaking out” on Lower Whitefish Road after her vehicle broke down. The woman told officers they were on Werner Peak and didn’t have food or water. Then her phone went dead. Officers eventually made contact with the couple who were safe at home.

Someone on Idaho Hill Road in Marion called officers to report that a squatter was allegedly living in a cave. The caller worried that the cave-dweller would “run a stove” that could potentially be a fire hazard.

A caller said neighbors, a man and a woman, were screaming and children repeatedly yelling “stop it,” in a mobile home on Trap Road in Columbia Falls. The man, who had been drinking, agreed to walk to a friend’s house. When he was offered a ride, he told officers that he was going to sue them.

The Whitefish Police Department received a report from Wisconsin Avenue of people stopping at looking at a black bear on a bike path.

A mother complained about a group of people yelling and using foul language when she walked with her children out of a bowling alley on U.S. 93 South.

Someone on West Third Street reported a “very intoxicated” man was knocking on the door, looked at their car and then starting using his cellphone. The man was returned to his room at a lodge.

Dogs were blocking traffic and wouldn’t move out of the road on the north side of the viaduct.

A husky-type dog was spotted wandering the halls of the hospital.

A woman on Seventh Street West told the Columbia Falls Police Department that her boyfriend accused her of cheating, broke her phone and, when she slapped him,  he hit her on the head. The woman said she was leaving for North Dakota “for good.”

Credit cards and a purse were found along a river embankment by someone on View Drive. The property appeared to belong to a high school teacher.

Someone followed and told the driver of a black car about being a hazard because the car had a dragging muffler.

A man reported open flames on Frontage Road. It turned out to be several small fires. One was in the middle of the road and one in the bottom of a tree.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Sullivan Creek Road when he failed to yield to an emergency vehicle on the way to a fire call. The man fled the scene and then crashed.

Someone on East Fifth Street witnessed a man beating a woman with a wooden spoon. The parties were separated.
