LETTER: Let's not overlook the tremendous benefit of Alpine Theatre Project

| August 29, 2015 9:00 PM

Regarding the article (Daily Inter Lake, Aug. 27) on the damage to the Steinway used by Alpine Theatre Project for their production of Chicago, which one could question whether it should have been considered “newsworthy” at all, it was, even on the conservative side, inflammatory.

Let’s not miss the forest for the trees here. Betsi Morrison and Luke Walrath have done so much to raise the bar on entertainment in the Flathead Valley and to engage and empower the youth of our communities through its Alpine Theatre Kids! Project and Alpine Theatre Internships , not to mention giving of their time and talent to host such events as the Intermountain Children’s Home Gala and probably countless other community events that we don’t even know about.

It is not in Betsi and Luke’s style nor is it in their character to be careless or disrespectful of property or people. Rather they have a commitment to excellence and to bringing us the best of their efforts to delight and entertain us. They are in many ways a gift to our community and should be thanked and supported. So, thank you to Betsi, Luke, David and all who make ATP possible! Again, let’s not miss the forest for the trees. —Kathryn Berg, Bigfork
