LAW ROUNDUP: Would-be robbers Tase victim

Whitefish Police were notified that a man had been Tased and that the people Tasing him had tried to steal the man’s wallet in an incident on Crestwood Drive.

 Family members on Central Avenue received Facebook messages from a towing company saying that their truck had been involved in an accident and was towed the previous night. Family members had just noticed that the truck was missing.

A man escaped a hospital room and was running around outside of the facility. Staff originally called for police backup, but were able to round up the man by themselves and get him sedated.


A man told Flathead Sheriff’s deputies that he went to deposit a check for a friend who had sold a truck on Craigslist. The man volunteered because the friend allegedly did not want the bank to seize part of the $3,000 check in repayment for his negative balance. The check bounced and the friend had been slow to repay the man. A deputy advised the man that he would have to go to civil court to settle the matter.

A house on Ashley Lake Road was ransacked and several guns were stolen.

A person on Sylvan Drive in Bigfork was scammed out of more than $1,500 after dealing with a company using a scheme that involved advertising for sparkling water.

A man on U.S. 2 East said that the back license plate was stolen from his van.

Officers gave a woman and her dog a ride to a motel in Kalispell after a couple found her screaming for help off Idaho Hill Road in Marion. The woman reported that her boyfriend had gone berserk and beat her at their Horseshoe Lake trailer house. The man allegedly ripped out a stove pipe and broke out the back window of the residence.

A shed on U.S. 2 East was broken into and two rifles and a hunting bow were stolen.

A reckless driver on Montana 35 allegedly knocked over a stop sign and almost hit two people near Kalispell.

A man on Managhan Lane said he would call deputies for help after grinding into his gun safe. The man said he had recently kicked a 30-year-old woman out of his house and that he thought she might have broken into the gun safe and changed the combination.

A woman on South Cedar Drive said that she had sold a vehicle to a man a couple of days ago, and was supposed to deliver tires that go along with the car. The woman said the man she sold the vehicle to started sending her sexual text messages, at which point the woman said she only wanted to give the tires to the man. The woman arranged a delivery of the tires with her stepfather. The man allegedly sped off when she and the stepfather arrived. The man then refused delivery of the tires and sent the woman messages saying that he was going to file a police report against her for theft. The woman said her license plates were still on the car.

Storage units on U.S. 2 East were broken into after someone cut a hole in the fence. The owner thought someone might be living in the units, as it looked like clothing and blankets had been cached in the units.


A person found a lost purse on Talbot Road and turned it in to Columbia Falls Police.

An out-of-state resident called to report that camera equipment had been stolen from a home on First Avenue East while the home was up for sale.


Kalispell Police were notified after a woman allegedly awoke in a man’s bed off North Meridian Road with an ice pick, hammer and knife. The woman claimed she was hearing voices that told her to hurt people.

A worker on East Idaho Street reported that a man had come up to the door with a knife in his hand and said “I’m going to jimmy your lock,” the man was told to leave the business and he did, but the woman he encountered was afraid.

A vehicle was towed and found to be full of items thought to be from a local creamery. Creamery workers were unable to confirm any recent thefts.

A bank on East Idaho Street asked for an officer to come review video of a man that had come into the business at the same time the past several days. During the most recent visit the man presented a teddy bear and said “This is Mr. Cuddles.”
