BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Whitefish girls open season with win

WHITEFISH — Whitefish won its first game under new head coach Ben Johnson, taking down Eureka 36-26 Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Dani Douglas led the Bulldogs with 12 points and Mariah Drown added 10.

Stacy Cooper scored 11 to lead the Lions.

Both teams struggled shooting the ball, with the Whitefish defense holding Eureka to just 8-for-45 from the field. The Bulldogs won the rebound battle 25-19 and had 14 steals in the win.

Columbia Falls JV put the game out of reach by outscoring Stillwater 22-9 in the fourth quarter at Stillwater Christian School.

Hannah Gedlaman and Haylie Peacock scored 14 points each for Columbia Falls. Tallia Sova and Ryley Kehr added 10 each.

Lulu Newmann led Stillwater with 10 points.

Stillwater tallied 19 points in the second, third and fourth quarters en route to the nonconference victory at Stillwater Christian School.

Isaac Neumann scored 27 points to power the SCS attack. Joe Hooker was next with 18,.
