LETTER: About that 911 call center bill...

| December 4, 2015 11:00 AM

Here comes the 911 center with its hand out again. But wait, this time they are not asking for more, but demanding more through the fiat of our three little dictators.

To help us swallow this pill, they have put forth a litany of contradictory information. I would like anyone involved to explain a few things to me. They claim to need $1.9 million and have sent out 66,151 notifications. At $25 per household, that comes out to $1.65 million and change. That is without any of the $50 to $1,000 tax on each business in the county. I am also sure that some notifications on vacant land showed no tax.

So please, anyone from any county office please correct my math and explain to me exactly how much money is going to be siphoned off the taxpayers. While you are at it, kindly inform us of the actual budget of the 911 center (maintenance, payroll, utilities, etc.) because I for one am having a hard time understanding how a call center can spend $500,000 a year on equipment purchases. —Neil Creighton, Kalispell
