LETTER: Time to impose limits on railroad

| December 6, 2015 11:00 AM

Regarding the article in the Daily Inter Lake Nov. 26 on the BNSF railroad.

Really, how long has this been going on? Falling asleep on the job, man that’s scary stuff. Today railroad companies certainly qualify for a curfew. They have been abusing the right-of-way for too long. By reading this article and the sheer amount of freight being moved today, the National Transportation Safety Board has no choice but to impose a curfew. I think it may take an act of Congress since there’s the one that gave them the right-of-way centuries ago.

The problem with hauling so much freight, it creates downtime, long hours, on a single rail system with a bunch of side rails. We’re in the 21st century with an 1800s system. Curfew is the only answer for now in my opinion. —Marcel Guy Cote, Libby
