Motorist gets help with missing car

Kalispell Police on Saturday helped an elderly woman locate her vehicle in a parking lot near U.S. 93 North.

Someone called in to report a man on the roof of a school. Police found several teenagers taking photos from the rooftop vantage point.

An employee at a U.S. 93 North business called police after trying to run down a shoplifter. The alleged shoplifter reportedly rammed the caller with a shopping cart in his effort to get away. Police later found the suspect casually drinking coffee at a business nearby.

Another shopper at the U.S. 93 North business district called to report a white van with a sign allegedly stating “Any woman seeking an abortion — will provide.” Police found the white van with religious markings written on the side, but nothing about abortions as reported.

Someone called Kalispell police to report two people trying to break into a car at a gas station near U.S. 93 South.

A store manager at a west-side business reported a cell phone and several other items stolen from the employee break room.

A woman called in a car trying to impersonate a police officer with a flashing strobe light, allegedly following cars on the south side of Kalispell.

Someone reportedly stole three piggy banks from a woman’s house on Friday. The caller said she didn’t have any idea who would steal the piggy banks, but said there were fingerprints available where the piggies once were.


At 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, Columbia Falls Police responded to a caller who said someone had broken into his house and were pointing guns at him. Police found the man alone and highly intoxicated, leading them to believe the man had fallen and hit his face on the floor. The man was transported to the hospital to be checked for a head injury; no sign of the reported gunmen was ever found.

A Columbia Falls resident called police to report a door left wide open on Martha Road.

Someone called police about two folks hanging around the housing complex that “don’t belong here.” Police found that the man and woman in the parking lot were moving out of a nearby apartment, and were allowed to be there.

Someone reportedly stole a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado from a 12th Street West residence.

An estranged wife was accused of stealing her husband’s pickup.


A man turned in a wallet to Whitefish Police on Sunday morning.

A handgun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the owner’s driveway.

An attorney called police hoping to speak about an incident with his client.

Someone set off a burglary alarm on a septic tank, prompting response from police and the alarm company.

A Whitefish resident called police after coming home to a man, allegedly coming down from a drug high, walking around his yard and not responding to his questions.

A woman reported a dish of change stolen from her home on Suncrest Drive while she and friends were at a bar downtown.

A driver called to report a car he believed was following him around town.

An employee at a bar in downtown Whitefish called police when a man, who had been kicked out, began head-butting and kicking the front door.

Police received a report of a man who had wandered into a Whitefish residence. The man had arrived in town by train, but didn’t have anywhere to go once he got there. Police were able to get the man to move along without any trouble.

A woman called Whitefish police when she saw someone break into her vehicle and run away after she confronted the person.
