SAN DIEGO — Annie Hill has been nearly unrivaled this season.

The Glacier sophomore is undefeated in cross country, earning a fourth-place ranking in the country and her second-straight Foot Locker West Regional title last week. She also won the prestigious Nike Cross Country Nationals Northwest regional title and cruised to her second-straight Class AA state championship.

As Hill enters the elite field at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships Saturday, she’ll look to keep that streak in tact and become only the second Montana runner to win a national cross country championship.

Hill, who finished eighth in the race as a freshman, will try to join the ranks of former-Flathead star Zoe Nelson, who won the Foot Locker national title in her sophomore season in 2002. Nelson finished that race with in 17 minutes, 30 seconds to win by 13 seconds in one of three top 10 finishes.

The three-mile race begins at 10:15 a.m. MST at Balboa Park.

The girls course record was set in 1990 in 16:39.8.

Hill’s fastest time this season was in 16:25.69 at the Libby Invitational, the fifth-fastest three-mile time in the country this season.

The race can be streamed live on YouTube. A link to the webcast will be on the Foot Locker CC website at www.footlockercc.com.
