LAW ROUNDUP: Snow builders get frosty reception

A woman asked Columbia Falls Police for extra patrol on Second Avenue West because her neighbors kept building snowmen on her property. She also said that she did not like that her neighbors gossiped about her.

A man on Grace Road said he heard a loud bang and saw a boy in a hoodie run across his yard with a piece of PVC pipe that was several feet long. Other youths were then seen running past. The man was suspicious because mailboxes in the area have been damaged in the past.


A Flathead County sheriff’s deputy gave a woman living outside Whitefish advice about how to get a no-contact order against her ex-boyfriend, who was harassing her despite requests to leave her alone.

An employer on Holt Drive was given advice about how to proceed after it was reported that an employee’s husband kept hanging around in the parking lot of the establishment, startling other employees.

Christmas decorations were stolen from a business on U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls.

A bike was recovered from Montclair Drive after being left there for a month. The caller to dispatch believed that the bike may have belonged to a guest who left it there.

Mail was stolen from a box on Jackson Meadow Road in Kila.

A parent asked dispatch what her legal options were after her 16-year-old daughter came home with “vicious” bite marks after engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old boy. The daughter was OK with the marks. The mother was not.

A woman on White Rabbit Lane was reassured that the Sheriff’s Office had no interest in taking the woman’s home after she reported receiving harassing phone calls from someone who said that the home would be seized by authorities if she did not get rid of her feline companion. The woman was told to ignore any future calls.

A wood splitter was stolen from Country Acres in Bigfork.

A 14-year-old living off Montana 40 near Columbia Falls called and said his brother had hit him with a pair of brass knuckles and threatened to shoot him. A 19-year-old was taken into custody after the incident.

 A woman living off Helena Flats Road was given a ride to a hotel after her male roommates allegedly began throwing her stuff outside the house and talking about holding her down and hurting her. The woman said she did not have a written contract to stay at the residence.

A woman on Karrow Avenue in Whitefish reported that her ex-boyfriend had bent her arm backwards, choked her and threw her on the ground.


Whitefish Police responded after a boulder hit a vehicle on Iron Horse Drive. The driver was not injured.

An old mail truck with crossbones decorations on the tail lights was stolen from Kalispell Avenue. The vehicle had a half-tank of gas and two loaded guns inside.


Kalispell Police responded to the intersection of West Center Street and First Avenue West where a woman said that a young man was hanging out a window and shaking his fist at her. The woman believed that the man was involved in a driving under the influence crash she had been involved in on Nov. 27 and she did not want to pursue charges.

A casino on North Main Street found that a $5 bill used by a customer was a fake.

A woman said she was punched in the face by another woman at a Kalispell electronics store.

A landlord on Fifth Avenue West reported that a renter had driven into a fence and taken part of it down.

A woman was cited and frozen food was returned to a store on Third Avenue East North after she stuffed the frozen items in her purse, paid for some other items and left the store.

A counterfeit $10 bill was discovered by a business on North Main Street.

A worker at a pharmacy called to report that a man was probably going to steal some condoms that he put in his coat pocket. When he got to the register, the man paid for the condoms.

Two counterfeit $10 bills were discovered at a business on East Idaho Street.
