A proposal by the Flathead National Forest would add the Anna Creek Work Station near Hungry Horse Reservoir to the forest’s cabin rental program for a fee of $75 per night.

The cabin is on the west shore of the Hungry Horse Reservoir with access to recreation opportunities including hiking, biking, off-road vehicle riding, water recreation, huckleberry picking, hunting, snowmobiling and firewood gathering.

It is 1,400 square feet with three rooms able to sleep 10 to 15 people. The cabin will have propane lights, heat, stove and a refrigerator as well as basic dishes, utensils and cooking pots and pans. Visitors will need to provide bedding, water, and other personal effects.

The forest’s proposal covers two rental seasons: June 1 to Oct. 31 and Dec. 1 to March 31.

While the road will not be plowed in the winter, it can be reached by snowmobile, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

It can also be used during a portion of the fall hunting season. Options would be provided for storage of game meat in a bear-resistant manner and all garbage would be required to be packed out.
