Sidewalks aren't extra parking spots

A Stumptown Loop resident called the Whitefish Police Department to report that a four-wheeler had been parked on the sidewalk in the neighborhood for three days. Officers spoke with the vehicle’s owners, who explained that it was broken down and that they would get it moved.

A Waverly Place resident called to report his garage had been broken into and a mountain bike was stolen. The man thought his son may have left the garage door open overnight, when the alleged theft occurred.

Officers responded to reports of a shoplifter on Central Avenue.

Reports of counterfeit continued when police received a call about a fake $10 bill a woman tried to use at a U.S. 93 South business. The female customer was not aware the bill was fake, and was cooperating with the business and police in trying to determine where the bill may have originated from.

A woman called to report her neighbor was outside her house screaming and yelling at her. The neighbor apparently believed the woman was having an affair with her husband. Officers responded and counseled all parties involved.


A concerned mother on Wildcat Drive called the Columbia Falls Police to report that her daughter’s boyfriend had become violently upset when asked to leave the residence. The caller and her daughter had locked themselves in a bedroom because they were afraid of him, and he was allegedly calling them names and “throwing things around.”

A 12th Avenue West resident called for help locating the owner of a dog that had jumped into his car. Officers were able to locate and contact the dog’s owner, and the pooch was returned home safe and sound.

A Crescent Drive resident called to complain about a neighbor’s barking dog.


Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a burn pile on Foys Lake Road.


The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Troutbeck Road.
