POLSON — The Flathead girls rode a big second quarter performance to pull away from Polson, winning 55-26 in a nonconference basketball game on Tuesday.

The Bravettes, who held a one-point lead after eight minutes, outscored Polson 15-4 in the second to build a comfortable lead. Flathead led by 20 points after the thrid quarter before extending its lead in the final frame.

“Kalispell was able to hit the boards (in the second quarter),” Polson coach Joe Quinn said.

“They got second and third shots. We couldn’t find the basket. Then it got away from us.”

Polson missed 21 shots in the first half.

“I thought we came around in the fourth quarter,” Quinn said. “It was just not enough.”

Flathead picked up its first win in the contest. The Bravettes will host Whitefish on Friday before a weekend trip to Coeur d’Alene. Polson will close the year at Hamilton on Saturday.
