LAW ROUNDUP: Man injured in snowmobile accident

Flathead Sheriff’s Department reported that emergency crews responded to Jewel Basin Road, where a person was injured in a snowmobile accident Tuesday afternoon. The man’s condition and details surrounding the accident were not immediately available.

A deputy responded to a report from Cougar Trail near Whitefish where a woman reported that thieves had entered her garage and stolen her purse from her car.

A woman called to complain that she was falsely accused of passing counterfeit bills. A supermarket clerk had allegedly told the woman that the $20 bills she was using were counterfeit. The woman said she took the money to the bank, but that the bank told her the money was fine. The woman was upset because her face was “plastered all over the news” as a person of interest in the counterfeit case.

A bear was seen hanging out in a yard in West Cottonwood Drive. A woman said that there were children trying to play with the bear.


Kalispell Police received a report about an Alaskan Malamute service dog that was lost on Fifth Avenue. The dog has a pink collar with a seizure tag and was last seen wearing Christmas antlers. The service dog might be traveling with a black Labrador with a black collar.

A hotel worker on U.S. 2 reported that two homeless men entered the premises and one man claimed he was going to have a heart attack, despite not exhibiting symptoms. The worker gave the men $10 to go get food at McDonald’s and they eventually left the premises.


A woman came to Columbia Falls Police station after she was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend at a gas station. The woman headed to the hospital and the man called the station to let law enforcement know that he was coming to turn himself in.
