The Hockaday Museum of Art announced Tuesday that it would conduct a nationwide search to identify potential candidates for its executive director position.

The museum also announced that Barry Conger will continue as the interim executive director until the search process is completed, candidates vetted and the position is filled.

The search is being conducted through Jan. 31, 2016. A final decision on the position is expected by April 2016.

The position will be posted nationally on multiple museum job websites. Interested qualified candidates are encouraged to contact Hockaday Museum Board President Harry Wilson at hocksearch@gmail.com.

The Hockaday Museum of Art was founded in 1968 and is located in the original Carnegie Library building built in 1904.

The Hockaday’s mission is “to enrich the cultural life of the community and region and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park.”

The museum has one of the largest collections of Glacier Park art, both historic and contemporary, and is the only major art museum that identifies Glacier National Park in its mission statement. In 2018, the museum will celebrate 50 years of serving the community and region.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave. E. The Carnegie Library building appears on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is a private nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
