Glacier adding 21 student-athletes to Wall of Fame

Twenty-one student-athletes from the 2015 graduating class at Glacier High School have qualified for its Wall of Fame recognition. They will be honored tonight between the varsity girls and boys basketball games at the high school.

The boys game tips off at 8 p.m. versus Columbia Falls. The girls play at 6 p.m.

Glacier Activities Director Mark Dennehy said the 2015 class “was one of the best athletically that we have had in our short history.”

To qualify for the Wall of Fame, a student-athlete must display excellence in at least one activity, earning first team all-state recognition or winning an individual state title, receive 12 activity letters, earn All-Northwest in music, or earn the Founders Degree in theatre to be considered. In addition, they must excel in at least two of the following areas: academic all-state (3.5 grade point average or above), established leadership roles in student council or a variety of clubs, a member of a state championship team, or letter in multiple activities. All total, 92 student-athletes have met the criteria for Wall of Fame honors for eight graduating classes.

The 2015 inductees are:

Kayleena Ikeda — earned first team all-state honors her sophomore, junior and senior seasons in softball. In her first varsity at bat for the Wolfpack, Ikeda hit a home run. In her last at bat in the state championship game, she also homered. Ikeda is currently studying accounting at Flathead Valley Community College.

Kayla Russell — received first team all-state honors for volleyball and played shortstop for four years, helping the Wolfpack win a state championship. She was active in the National Honor Society and the Wolfpack Club. Russell is studying pre-med at Pacific Lutheran University.

Brandon Purdy — was a first team all-state kicker for the state champion football team and a four-time letter winner in soccer. He was active in National Honor Society and orchestra. He is currently studying business management at the University of Montana.

Logan Jones — was a first team all-state selection his sophomore, junior and senior seasons in football. Logan helped lead the Wolfpack to a state title as a receiver, punt returner and kick returner. He holds the AA all-purpose yardage record for a game with 312 yards. Jones was selected to the East-West Shrine and MonDak football games. He is currently playing football at Montana State and is studying construction engineering technology.

Andrew Harris — was a first team all-state defensive end for the state championship football team. He played in the East West Shrine and MonDak football games. He is currently playing football for the University of Montana while studying business administration.

Katie Wiley — was the recipient of the Alpha Female Award, that signifies the best student-athlete at GHS, her senior year. She was first team all-state in volleyball her junior and senior seasons. Wiley played third base for the state champion softball team. An 11-time letter winner in volleyball, basketball, track and softball, she was also involved in National Honor Society. Wiley is currently playing volleyball for Montana Tech and studying personal health and fitness.

Noah Hill — earned 15 letters in cross-country, track, speech and debate, orchestra and theatre. He placed third at state in Public Forum Debate. He was the National Honor Society and Student Body president his senior year, earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average and received the coveted Presidential Leadership Scholarship to the University of Montana, where he is studying biochemistry and piano performance.

Austin Cook — was the 2015 state long jump champion. He earned letters in track and band and was academic all-state. He is currently attending Flathead Valley Community College.

Hannah Liss — was selected first team all-state in volleyball her junior and senior seasons and was a second team selection her sophomore year. Liss graduated with 3.9 grade point average, which earned her academic all-state honors. She is currently playing volleyball at Montana Tech and majoring in engineering.

Nick Barr — received all-state and All-Northwest band recognition, earned five letters in music and theatre and graduated with a 3.9 grade point average. He is currently attending the University of Montana studying music composition and jazz performance.

Harrison Kauffman — won the Alpha Male Award for the outstanding student-athlete. He was a first team all-state guard and second team all-state defensive tackle for the state champion Wolfpack and played in the East-West Shrine and MonDak football games. In track, Harrison placed third at state in the shot put. He earned 11 letters and graduated with a 3.95 grade point average. Off the field, he flourished in Memorized Public Address for the three-time state champion speech team. In MPA, he was a state champion, state runner-up and placed third and seventh in his four years. He is currently playing football at Lehigh University while studying business.

Tessa Krueger — collected first team all-state volleyball honors her senior season and was second team all-state her junior year. Krueger earned nine letters for volleyball, basketball and track, placed second in the discus at state her junior year, was third her senior season and placed third and fifth in the shot put. She currently attends Carroll College and plays volleyball for the Saints.

Ben Habel — was the 2015 state champion in Memorized Public Address, was All-Northwest in choir and was a member of three state championship speech teams. He earned a Theatre’s Founder Degree and received 11 letters in theatre, choir and speech and debate. He is studying theatre and history at St. Olaf.

Tucker Rauthe — was a first team and second team all-state safety for state champion Wolfpack football team during his career. He played in the MonDak game and lettered eight times in basketball, track and football. He was also involved in Glacier’s Wolfpack Club. He is currently playing football for Montana Tech and studying applied health.

Rebecca Konen — received All-Northwest honors in choir. She placed fourth in Duo in speech, was a member of the state championship speech team and received 11 letters for choir, track, theatre, and speech and debate. She also was a student council leader.

Josh Hill — was selected first team all-state and Western Conference MVP both his junior and senior seasons at middle linebacker while leading the Wolfpack to a state championship. He was selected the state’s AA most valuable defensive player his senior season. He played in the East-West Shrine and MonDak football games. He received eight letters for football, basketball and track. He also participated in the Wolfpack Club. He is currently playing football at Montana State.

Riley Connell — was a member of the state champion 400-meter relay team and ran on the third place 1,600 relay team his senior season. Connell was also a member of the state championship football team. Academically, he earned merit distinction by passing six Advanced Placement classes. He is currently attending Montana State and is studying architecture.

Brielle Bumgarner — earned first team all-state honors in volleyball, placed second at state in the triple jump in 2015 and was third in the long jump and on the third place 1600-meter relay team in 2014. Bumgarner earned nine letters in volleyball, basketball, choir and track. She is currently playing volleyball for Carroll College and studying nutrition.

Cain Boschee — was a member of the state championship 400-meter relay team his senior season, placed fourth in the 200 and sixth in the 100. He was a first team all-state cornerback for the state champion Wolfpack. Boschee participated in the National Honor Society and the Wolfpack Club. He earned nine letters in football, basketball and track. He is currently playing football at Dickenson State while studying exercise science.

Brady McChesney — received second team all-state recognition at quarterback as a junior. During his senior season, he led the Wolfpack to a state championship in football and was named first team all-state, MVP of Western AA conference, and the AA State Offensive MVP. He played in the East-West Shrine and MonDak football games. McChesney threw 82 touchdown passes to break an MHSA state career record. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Wolfpack Club. He is currently playing football at Montana State and majoring in mechanical engineering.
