Couple attempts to cash bad check

A bank employee alerted Columbia Falls Police about a man and a woman who allegedly tried to cash a fraudulent check for $8 on Saturday. The pair tried to cash the check at a gas station across the street, according to the caller. They left on foot before police arrived.

A woman called police for help retrieving her cat from underneath an abandoned vehicle near her home. According to the woman, the cat was somehow wedged under the car and couldn’t move by itself. According to the Columbia Falls Police Department transcripts, the woman was eventually able to rescue her cat without assistance.

An auto store employee called to discuss some “suspicious activity” he had witnessed earlier that day regarding a Subaru Outback.

Someone reported a small slash-pile fire near Fourth Street West North.

Four teenagers were reported for jumping out into traffic near the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

A mother called police to report her daughter had been attacking her brother. No one was transported to a hospital for medical attention.


A hotel employee called Whitefish Police Department to report a marijuana smell coming from two adjoining rooms booked by a Whitefish bar. The rooms were unoccupied when police arrived.

Someone reported losing a driver’s license, a car key and a phone charger on Friday night. Another person called to report losing their own keys that night, and was wondering if their car would be towed if they were unable to find them.

A resident called Whitefish Police to report a barking dog next door. Police spoke with the neighbor, who took the dog inside.

A man in a ponytail was allegedly being confrontational with other patrons at a bar in downtown Whitefish.


A store manager called Kalispell Police Department to report an employee who had stolen cash from the business and had been caught by security.

Someone was caught trying to break into several different vehicles in a hotel parking lot.

Two people were able to steal $43 worth of gasoline from a gas station without being caught on camera.

A man living in Alaska called Kalispell Police to report someone had used his credit card to purchase items totaling more than $500 from a Kalispell outdoors store.

A Kalispell resident called police while chasing a gang of kids who were knocking on his neighbor’s doors and running away.

Several people reported hearing a gun shot in a neighborhood north of Kalispell.


On Saturday, Evergreen Fire Department responded to a power line emergency on Whitefish Stage and a gas odor on Shady Lane.
