In Flathead District Court on Thursday, a Kalispell man admitted embezzling thousands of dollars from his employer.

Travis Timothy Weller admitted on the witness stand that during his job as bookkeeper for Keller Williams Realty, he gave himself unauthorized pay increases that amounted to more than $28,000 during a 16-month time frame beginning in October 2013.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors and defense attorneys have agreed to recommend a six-year deferred sentence. Weller will have to pay restitution.

Judge Heidi Ulbricht is not required to follow the plea agreement. Sentencing is set for Feb. 25.
