LAW ROUNDUP: Man cited after pulling child on sled

Columbia Falls Police issued a citation to a man on 11th Avenue West for driving without a license and counseled him about the dangers of pulling a child on a sled behind a vehicle. A neighbor had reported that the man was riding an all-terrain vehicle up and down the street, yelling and making a lot of noise.

Officers were asked if a wrist rocket could be classified as a weapon. A woman on Eighth Avenue East North reported that she wanted to confiscate the modern slingshot from children who killed her cat.

A woman on Eighth Avenue East North asked for help after a man, on behalf of her landlord, kept harassing her about moving out. The woman was being evicted and it was taking her longer than expected to get moved out. She had small children with her and was hysterical. She was advised that her problem was a civil not a criminal matter.


Whitefish Police were told that a truck with an Alaska license plate had been seen at multiple construction sites, with a person taking photos. Construction workers thought the photographer might be casing the place out for a later theft.

A man parked off U.S. 93 had his keys confiscated and was given a verbal warning after he was found passed out in a running vehicle. A caller reported that the car had been parked for at least an hour.


Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies were asked to make contact with a dog’s owner after the pooch kept marking his territory at a neighbor’s residence on McMannamy Draw. The dog allegedly kept doing his business on the neighbor’s furniture and the neighbor was upset that the dog’s owner would not keep the animal on a leash.

A fish and game officer responded to Farm to Market Road outside Kalispell where an injured but still alive deer was being attacked by birds. The officer killed the deer.

A spotting scope was stolen from a business located off U.S. 2 in Kalispell and the owner called back a short time later to say that the scope had been found in Washington state.

A person spotted a dog with a panhandler off of U.S. 2 outside of Kalispell. The caller was concerned that the dog might get frostbitten. The caller did not list any concerns for the human. An officer found that the dog was fine and was sitting on a blanket.

A man on King’s Way found that his snow plow had been stolen.  He found a similar snowplow for sale on the Missoula Craigslist site and met with the seller. The plow for sale was not the man’s, but the man was suspicious the seller might have been the person who stole his plow. The man was told to contact Missoula officials.

A woman reported that her roommate had stolen a video gaming system from her. The gaming system was for sale at a pawn shop. A deputy told her that the situation could be resolved if the roommate paid the pawn value and returned the system.


Kalispell Police responded to Third Avenue East North where a customer allegedly would not leave and threatened to hit anyone who tried to make him leave. The man had left by the time an officer arrived.

An officer was dispatched to Teal Drive where a man was allegedly following around children, taking photos of them sledding.


A man was advised not to return to a home by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office after his girlfriend reported that he was very drunk and threatening her.

A deputy talked with a Troy man who thought someone had gotten a loan in his name.

A woman on Granite Avenue said that she had found credit-card charges believed to have been made by her underage daughter. The woman said the daughter’s probation officer encouraged her to report the theft to police.

Officers gave a woman a ride home after she reported that her boyfriend had taken off in her car from a Libby gas station. The woman said the man had been drinking.
