A woman was charged last week with beating her boyfriend with a piece of lumber on a Kalispell pedestrian trail.

Megan Nicole Richeson, age and address not provided, is charged with felony assault with a weapon.

According to Flathead District Court documents, a Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy encountered a shirtless man walking on a pedestrian path near Stone Street on Oct. 16. The deputy observed the man had several injuries on his arms, chest and back. The man said he had been assaulted by his girlfriend, Richeson.

The man said the pair had been in an argument when he picked up his belongings and attempted to leave.

The woman then allegedly picked up a 2-by-4 board and struck the man several times in the back.

Eyewitnesses corroborated the story.

Richeson faces up to 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted.
