Parent complains about how student treated

Kalispell Police Department responded to a call on Third Avenue East from a parent who said teachers  allegedly abused her 7-year-old son — pulling him by the hair in front of the class and using force by grabbing his arms. The parent said they tried to work with the school, which was threatening to call and report the woman for harassment. Officers met with the parent at the school and counseled both parties to determine what follow up will be necessary.

The Humane Society received an anonymous call about a dog on a short leash that had ice in its fur and didn’t have food or water. When officers went to Eighth Avenue West to check on the dog, it was learned that the current owner gave permission for it to be impounded and that the animal had been abandoned there about a month ago

A man on Sixth Avenue East called to report that his neighbor had started screaming over the fence about a vehicle partially parked in front of the neighbor’s house. Later when the caller left in another vehicle, the neighbor came around the corner allegedly swerving at him. The caller said he had a temporary restraining order against him so he felt there was nothing he could do about the harassment.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a man was in custody for an assault at the airport. A call back to the caller found that security was trying to handcuff the man in front of baggage claim. No further word on the outcome.

Windows were reported stolen from a home under construction on Stoneridge Drive. 

A woman reported that her sister hit her in the face while she was driving, then punched her in the back of the head. 

A man reported that he had been “scammed out of $500” over the Internet. 

An upstairs neighbor on Somers Road was jumping up and down on the floor, disturbing the tenant below him or her. The downstairs tenant reported that it sounded like someone was “dropping a bowling ball” on the floor. 

A strong smell of chemicals was reported on Rocky Meadows Loop in Kalispell, and caused light-headedness and heartburn for those reporting the smell. 

Laundry machines at an RV park on U.S. 2 near Columbia Falls were damaged when someone tried to gain access to the coin boxes.
