Marjorie “Marge” Spilis passed away on Jan. 5, 2015, in Kalispell.

She was born June 5, 1935, to Lyle and Francis Rowe, in Sidney.

Marge moved to Kalispell in 1945, where she grew up. She attended Flathead County High School, from where she graduated in 1952. Marge worked at a few local banks, and numerous local restaurants including Jordan's and the Scoreboard, from which she retired. Soon after retirement she moved out to Crystal Lake near Libby with her husband Chuck.

Marge met Chuck Spilis in 1962; he quite literally swept her off her feet onto the dance floor. Shortly after, they were married on June 22, 1963. In 51 years of marriage there was never a dull moment.

Marge had many interests and hobbies. She was a member of the Rocky Mountain Saddle Club and loved riding horses; when she was younger, she even raced stock cars. She was secretary of the 5 O’ Clockers bowling league, and was a manager at the Moose Lodge. She was Boy Scout leader for her son, as well as scorekeeper and supporter for her son's sporting events. She loved to feed the squirrels by the lake, and loved her dogs, both Toejoes and Tiger.

She will be remembered for her beautiful gardens and her ways in the kitchen. Marge was a devoted wife, caring mother and a loving grandmother.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Francis Rowe; her brother, Jay Rowe; and son, David Harder.

Marge is survived by her husband, Chuck Spilis; her brother, John Rowe; children, Doug Harder, Monty Harder, Connie Crews, Rae Quintero and Chucko Spilis; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Marge’s life will be held at a later date.
