State swimming: Wolfpack relays strong
MISSOULA — Powered by its relay teams, Glacier put a large pack of swimmers into the finals races at the MHSA state swim meet at the University of Montana Grizzly Pool on Friday.
The Wolfpack qualified both boys and girls relays in the 200-yard medley and the 400 freestyle. The girls will race the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Glacier’s Nate Burnham and James Bouda are both in the finals of two individual events. Burnham will race the 200- and 500-yard freestyle and Bouda the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
Glacier teammates Jessica Loyda and Olivia Gibson each qualified for a pair of individual events on the girls side. Loyda will race the 50 and 100 freestyles and Gibson the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle. Emma Hornby is in the finals for the 100 freestyle.
Flathead will race the boys and girls 400 freestyle relays. Braves junior Ethan Timm qualified for the finals in the 100 backstroke.
In Class A, Columbia Falls’s Zayne Friar will race the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke finals and teammate Colton Babcock is in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Cats freshman Jacob Hohman will compete in the 100 freestyle finals.
The boys also will race the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Karyssa Nelson will race for Columbia Falls in the 100 backstroke finals.
Whitefish qualified its girls 400 freestyle relay.
Times and results for the preliminary races were not provided by press time.
