Police don't give a hoot about this suspect
A report came into the Whitefish Police Department about an irritating hooting noise being made by someone outside the caller’s Monterra Avenue door. The caller couldn’t tell if the shadow was male or female, but was “adamant” that it was a person. Police located the source of the noise and determined it was an actual owl.
Two females reportedly walked in through the back door of a Central Avenue restaurant and ordered food. One of them got agitated and assaulted the cook.
A caller told police that somebody stepped out of a gold car on River Lakes Parkway, tossed the keys into a parking lot and walked off. The caller brought the keys to police, who located the vehicle owner. He told police that his car wouldn’t start and he was going to have the car towed.
A conscientious thief called a woman from Missoula to let her know that he had stolen from her, according to a report to the Columbia Falls Police Department. The man was trying to get enough money to return to Kalispell and would contact her when he made it, presumably to make restitution
A caller asked the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to check on a woman who was leaning against a post on Conrad Drive with her eyes closed. The caller wasn’t sure if the woman was conscious. A deputy met with the woman, found her to be OK and sent her on her way.
Two people were reportedly throwing bars of soap out of a truck on East Idaho Street, though not in an effort to promote hygiene. They were throwing them at other vehicles. Police located the registered owner and spoke with him or her about the incident.
Beer cans exited a truck on U.S. 2 along with a stumbling driver, according to a report. The caller said that the man had a long mustache.
A truck caught fire on Montana 35 and the caller wanted deputies to help determine the cause. Thankfully, it was in the parking lot of an auto shop.
A caller claimed that someone dumped a television in the middle of Rose Bud Lane, and the glass was all over the road. It was too big for the caller to move on her own.
A neighbor called in a potential burglary on Sixth Street West. The caller told the Kalispell Police Department that two men were trying to jimmy open a door with a credit card. The suspects drove off, but police caught up with them. They confirmed that they live at the residence but were locked out.
