Stolen chicken crosses the road
A hungry thief reportedly stole several cooked chickens and cheese from a store on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. Store clerks reporting the incident to the Columbia Falls Police Department were fairly certain they knew who the suspect was, because a chicken fell out of his coat while he fled the scene. Police were unable to locate the suspect.
People were reported hiding in the bushes along Nucleus Avenue.
A woman called the Whitefish Police Department to explain that she found a lost dog with tags stating where its owners lived. When she returned the dog to its home on Creek View Drive, she found the garage and kitchen door “wide open.” Dispatch noted a similar call was reported for the same home in 2014. Responding officers left a note for the homeowner.
A woman repeatedly called the Whitefish Police Department requesting a ride to a veterinary clinic to pick up her dog. Dispatch repeatedly informed her they are not a taxi service.
A caller wanted to call the police department to “say thank you” and also get a restraining order.
An apartment on Park Avenue was filled with smoke. Dispatch advised the person reporting the incident that everyone needed to evacuate the building. Upon further inspection, it was discovered a resident had burned food, and there was no immediate danger.
A resident on Eleventh Street East called Kalispell Police Department to report that someone had tampered with his windmill.
A group of people were reportedly in the road on Third Avenue West. One person was lying on the ground. Responding officers advised the people to move along.
A home on First Avenue East North was egged. The couple living in the home believed they were the intended targets, and requested extra patrol.
A group of kids were reported loitering on First Avenue West. Responding officers found the group was made up of adults waiting for a ride home.
