Cussing dad keeps son at home

| January 2, 2015 5:33 PM

A 20-year-old man told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office his parents would not let him leave their house on Windfield Lane in Columbia Falls. Drugs and alcohol apparently were not factors, but the man said his father was cussing at him. Responding officers performed a civil standby, and the young man was able to “spread his wings and fly.”

Snowmobilers were on the back side of Big Mountain when one driver was separated from the group and called emergency services when his snowmobile got stuck. Dispatch advised him to walk out to a trail, but the call was lost. Calls back to the driver were sent to voicemail, and a search party was sent out. The Two Bear Air helicopter located the driver, who had found his group. The group eventually got the sled unstuck, and all parties were able to safely leave the mountain.

A car on Frontage Road was broken into, but nothing was taken. The caller found both doors, the glovebox and the center console thrown open, and “everything was thrown around.”

A very old brown and gray Chesapeake mix dog was found in downtown Columbia Falls, and appeared to be injured. The dog was taken to a shelter.

A person walking on Elk Park Road used her bear spray on a dog that charged her. Officers were able to get in contact with the dog’s owner, and the owner promised to look into how the dog got out of the yard.

A physical disturbance was reported on Ridgewood Drive in Kalispell when a woman said her husband was being abusive and had pushed her after he had been drinking. The husband said he was only trying to take her coat off. The woman left the residence.

Two cars appeared to be involved in a “drug deal” at a park on East Evergreen Drive in Kalispell. The caller was worried because there were children in a nearby park.

A woman driving north of Whitefish said a vehicle with no lights on was “chasing her.” The report stated the vehicle kept getting very close to the woman’s car and swerving. Eventually the car turned onto a different road, and officers were unable to locate the car.

A woman called dispatch to say she had been poisoned. According to the report, she was crying and hard to understand. The call was disconnected several times before a dispatcher spoke with a man at the residence on Seville Lane. He said the woman had been poisoned, but it was unknown with what. Officers located the house, and the woman was transported by medical services for further care.

Columbia Falls Police  responded to a report of a woman screaming loud enough that the neighbor heard her. Officers were unable to find anyone in distress.

A call to the Whitefish Police Department reported a party at a condominium on Bay Point Drive. The caller was the owner of the condo and had rented it out for the holiday. He said neighbors had called him to report that the tenants were being loud and setting off fireworks. Responding officers reported that everything was quiet.
